ORIGIN SERIES: Selected Installations

The single stroke of a line is one of the simplest marks we can make. Its pure simplicity is the basis of its power to represent one or all. The circle, like the line seems simplistic but it carries meaning as an image, symbol or metaphor. Similarly, light so surrounds us and transforms our world that generally we ignore its subtleties until they are isolated for our inspection or we are relaxed enough to notice them. These three elements; line, curve and light as spatial form, combine in these works to create a single statement that transforms as one moves.

The Origin Series is a body of works that investigates the transformative dynamic of change. Each works uses the holographic medium to create dimensional light in space. The perception of the works change relative to the viewers height and distance from the work.

The Origin Series started with "Alignment" and culminated with "Signature of the Source" commissioned by the Karl Ernst Osthaus-Museum. Completed in 1997, the spiraling lines of light projecting through the roundel window unexpectedly mirrored the early radio wave portraits of pulsars that were just beginning to be imaged at that time.
